Job Description
We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Plant Support Worker to join our operations team at our Waste to Energy facility.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work, wants to learn new skills and is looking to develop a long-term career within the renewable energy industry.
Working alongside experienced Plant Operators and Engineers, you will play an important role in keeping the plant running safely, efficiently and to the highest housekeeping standards.
Full training will be provided for the right candidate.
The Role
Reporting to the Shift Plant Operator, you will support the day-to-day running of the facility by assisting with routine operational tasks and ensuring the site remains clean, safe and organised.
Your responsibilities will include:
· Supporting the Plant Operator with daily operational duties.
· Loading and moving materials using a telehandler.
· Feeding fuel into the plant as instructed.
· Carrying out routine housekeeping throughout the facility.
· Cleaning plant and process equipment.
· Assisting with routine inspections of machinery and equipment.
· Reporting any faults, defects or unsafe conditions.
· Helping maintenance engineers during planned maintenance activities.
· Completing basic operational checks and recording information accurately.
· Supporting stock movements and deliveries.
· Maintaining safe working areas both inside and outside the plant.
· Following all Health & Safety procedures and Environmental Permit requirements.
· Working as part of the operations team to ensure continuous plant performance.
About You
We are looking for someone who is dependable, hardworking and enjoys working in a hands-on industrial environment.
A positive attitude and willingness to learn are more important than previous industry experience.
Essential Skills
- Willingness to work a rotating shift pattern, including days, nights and weekends.
- Able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Keen to learn new skills and develop within the company.
- Able to follow clear instructions and safe systems of work.
- Telehandler licence or experience operating a telehandler (or willingness to undertake training if required).
- Full UK driving licence.
- Good awareness of Health & Safety.
- Reliable, punctual and self-motivated.
- Good communication skills.
- Physically fit and capable of undertaking manual handling duties.
- Basic IT skills.
- Good attention to detail.
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience in an industrial, manufacturing, recycling or waste processing environment.
- Experience operating loading shovels, forklifts or other mobile plant.
- Mechanical aptitude with basic maintenance skills.
- Experience working safely around heavy machinery.
- First Aid qualification.
- Working at Height or Confined Space training.
- Banksman or Slinging & Signalling experience.
