We are looking for a calm, reliable and caring Waking Night Support Worker to support children and young people within a residential home in Ascot.
You will remain awake and alert throughout each shift, maintaining a safe and settled environment while responding appropriately to young people’s emotional, behavioural and practical needs.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the safety and wellbeing of young people throughout the night.
- Complete scheduled observations, welfare checks and security checks.
- Support individual nighttime routines and provide emotional reassurance.
- Respond calmly when a young person is distressed, unsettled or in crisis.
- Follow care plans, behaviour plans and risk assessments.
- Report safeguarding concerns promptly and correctly.
- Administer medication and first aid within the limits of your training.
- Complete accurate daily logs, incident reports and observation records.
- Prepare clear handovers for the incoming day team.
- Undertake appropriate household duties.
- Escalate concerns to the manager or on-call lead when required.
Essential requirements
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- Previous experience supporting children and young people in residential care, care or education.
- Strong safeguarding awareness.
- The ability to remain awake, alert and emotionally regulated throughout night shifts.
- Good written communication and basic IT skills.
- The right to work in the UK.
Previous waking-night experience, experience supporting EBD or trauma-related needs and a full UK driving licence would be advantageous.
Pay: £31,000.00-£35,200.00 per year
