Annual Salary: £42000 - £48000
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Production & Demand Planner to take ownership of production planning, demand forecasting and inventory control within a growing manufacturing business.
This is a pivotal role where you will bring structure, visibility and control to a planning function currently managed through spreadsheets and informal processes. Working closely with Sales, Production, Purchasing, Technical and Warehouse teams and partnering with Senior Leadership you will create robust planning processes that improve OTIF performance, optimise stock holdings and ensure production capacity is aligned with customer demand.
This role would suit a commercially aware planner who enjoys building processes, influencing stakeholders and driving continuous improvement within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Experience in process manufacturing, FMCG or packaging would be an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Demand planning & forecasting: develop accurate forecasts from sales history, customer requirements and business trends; monitor and improve forecast accuracy.
Production planning: create and maintain achievable production schedules, balancing demand against capacity and prioritising in line with customer and business priorities.
Inventory & material planning: monitor stock levels of raw materials, packaging and finished goods; anticipate shortages and reduce stockouts, excess and obsolete stock.
Capacity planning: analyse capacity and resource availability, identify bottlenecks and provide early visibility of future capacity risks.
Stakeholder management: act as the central coordination point across Sales, Production, Purchasing and Senior Leadership; challenge unrealistic delivery commitments where capacity or material risk exists.
Process improvement : be involved in the design and implementation of robust planning processes, KPIs and reporting; drive continuous improvement across the planning function.
What We're Looking For
Previous experience in a Production Planning, Demand Planning or Supply Chain Planning role within a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of forecasting, capacity planning and inventory management.
Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyse data and make informed planning decisions.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working across multiple departments.
A commercially aware, process-driven mindset with a continuous improvement ethos confident challenging stakeholders when necessary.
Desirable: FMCG, food manufacturing, packaging or process manufacturing experience; ERP/MRP system experience; S&OP exposure; Lean or continuous improvement knowledge.
Pay: £42,000.00-£48,000.00 per year
