Overview
We are seeking a diligent and motivated Duct Fitter’s Mate to join our team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in construction, air conditioning, and maintenance work. The successful candidate will assist experienced duct fitters in installing, maintaining, and repairing ductwork systems within various commercial and industrial settings. A background in mechanical knowledge, construction experience, and familiarity with schematics will be advantageous. Duties
- Support lead duct fitters in the installation of ductwork systems according to project specifications and schematics
- Assist with the assembly, fitting, and securing of duct components using appropriate tools and equipment
- Help with the measurement, cutting, and fitting of ducting materials to ensure precise installation
- Aid in the maintenance and repair of existing ductwork systems, including troubleshooting issues
- Ensure all work is carried out safely, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times
- Assist with equipment repair and upkeep to maintain operational efficiency on-site
- Support the team in handling materials and organising tools to optimise workflow during projects
- Follow instructions carefully from supervisors or lead fitters to ensure quality standards are met
Qualifications
- Basic mechanical knowledge or experience in construction or maintenance environments is desirable
- Familiarity with schematics, technical drawings, or blueprints is advantageous
- Previous experience working with air conditioning or HVAC systems is a plus but not essential
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team with leadership potential is preferred
- Practical skills in equipment repair and maintenance are beneficial
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail are required for precise fitting tasks
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to different project requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift materials safely as needed
