Purpose
The Sales Account Manager is responsible for leading and developing the Account Management team while driving the profitable growth of existing customer accounts and securing new business opportunities. The role is accountable for delivering excellent customer service throughout the sales lifecycle, from quotation and contract review through to order fulfilment, ensuring customer expectations are consistently met or exceeded.
Working closely with the Head of Sales and cross-functional teams, the Sales Account Manager will develop and implement sales strategies that strengthen customer relationships, maximise revenue and profitability, and support the Company's long-term growth objectives. The role requires strong commercial awareness, technical understanding within a manufacturing and engineering environment, and the ability to identify opportunities, negotiate successful outcomes, and lead a high-performing team to achieve and exceed sales targets.
Duties
- Ownership of a team of Account Managers to achieve successful and profitable management of nominated customers/accounts.
- Take the lead in processing requests for quotations and quote submissions for existing and new business opportunities. Ensure all quotes are followed up with customers to optimise success.
- Manage contract review process to ensure new orders are reviewed and processed in a timely manner in accordance with ADAPT’s procedures.
- Liaise with all stakeholders during procurement and manufacturing to ensure customer’s delivery expectations are achieved.
- Develop positive, collaborative relationships with key staff within the customer’s business.
- Regularly meet with nominated existing customer accounts to carry out business reviews and identify new opportunities that align with new business growth objectives.
- Regularly review objectives and sales targets and work towards achieving or exceeding them.
- Day to day management and development of Account Management Team.
- Working alongside the Head of Sales to develop and implement sales strategies to ensure long term profitable growth of customers.
- Achieve agreed new business targets by the following;
- Work to find new customers within the agreed parameters.
- Conduct market research to identify potential clients, taking the lead to follow up on leads/prospects.
Qualifications
- Experience in account management/sales preferably with a strong technical background, particularly within electrical engineering or manufacturing.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- PC literate, good knowledge of excel, word, powerpoint etc.
- Experience managing customer relationships and delivering tailored solutions.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Good understanding of the commercial requirements within contract equipment manufacturing.
- Ability to make sound business decisions.
- Demonstrable success in meeting or exceeding sales targets and developing long-term client relationships.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to travel within local area as required.
- Self-Starter; ability to demonstrate willingness to pursue opportunities and skills to engage new clients.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address customer needs and challenges.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to remain motivated and focused when faced with challenges.
Pay: Up to £55,000.00 per year
