An inclusive and welcoming primary school near Redhill, Hereford is looking to appoint a caring and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils across the school. Interviews and trial days are taking place now, with the opportunity to start immediately or from the beginning of the new academic term.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys helping children succeed and wants to make a lasting difference to pupils with additional learning needs. You'll be working with children aged 3–11 years, supporting them both inside and outside the classroom to help them flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs.
- Helping children access learning by adapting activities to suit individual abilities.
- Encouraging confidence, independence, and active participation in lessons.
- Supporting pupils with needs including Autism, speech and language difficulties, SEMH, and other additional learning needs.
- Working alongside class teachers, the SENCO, and wider support staff to deliver personalised learning strategies.
- Promoting positive behaviour and creating a safe, inclusive environment.
- Providing support with personal care and daily routines where required.
- Monitoring progress and contributing to pupil records and support plans.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in education, childcare, care, youth work, or a similar setting.
- A patient, positive, and flexible approach to supporting learners.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
- The right to work in the UK.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
The following would be beneficial but are not essential:
- Experience supporting children with SEN in a school environment.
- Understanding of Autism, SEMH, speech and language needs, or inclusive education.
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or qualifications in Childcare, Health & Social Care, or Youth Work.
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own transport.
- Ability to speak Welsh.
