Role Summary
The Locum CT3 Psychiatry Doctor will provide high‑quality psychiatric assessment, management, and ongoing care for patients within the designated service line. The postholder will work under consultant supervision and collaborate closely with MDT colleagues across inpatient, community, and crisis pathways. Section 12 approval is required to support Mental Health Act assessments and related duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical assessments — Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, risk assessments, and formulation.
- Inpatient care — Manage daily ward reviews, documentation, care plans, and MDT meetings.
- Community clinics — Review follow‑up patients, adjust treatment plans, and liaise with GPs and social care.
- Mental Health Act duties — Undertake Section 12 assessments, contribute to detentions, renewals, and tribunals.
- Crisis support — Provide input to crisis teams, gatekeeping admissions, and supporting rapid assessments.
- Documentation & governance — Maintain accurate records, comply with Trust policies, and participate in audits.
- Teaching & supervision — Support junior trainees and medical students when required.
Required Qualifications
- GMC registration with licence to practise
- Minimum CT2/CT3 level experience in psychiatry
- Section 12 approval (mandatory for this post)
- Up‑to‑date mandatory training and safeguarding
- Experience working within NHS mental health services

Pay: £54.00-£65.00 per hour
