Transitions Housing Solutions CIC is a not-for-profit community interest company dedicated to transforming lives through high-quality supported housing and family support services. We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Manager to lead our Family Assessment Centre, delivering excellent standards of care, safeguarding, and professional assessments.
The Registered Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, operational management, quality assurance, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance of the Family Assessment Centre. This role ensures the service provides high-quality, trauma-informed parenting and risk assessments in full compliance with Ofsted requirements, while promoting the safety and welfare of children and supporting families to strengthen their parenting capacity.
Main duties
- Provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure the centre is safe, effective, well-led and fully compliant with all regulatory standards.
- Ensure the service operates in accordance with the Children Act 1989, Residential Family Centre Regulations 2002, National Minimum Standards, and Ofsted inspection frameworks.
- Oversee the quality, timeliness and robustness of parenting assessments, viability assessments, risk assessments, and court-directed reports.
- Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, maintaining a strong safeguarding culture and effective risk management.
- Manage the full placement cycle including referrals, admissions, assessment processes, discharge planning and move-on arrangements.
- Lead, supervise, develop and performance manage the multidisciplinary team, including Deputy Managers, Team Leaders, Assessors and Support Workers.
- Ensure safe 24/7 staffing levels through effective rota management and workforce planning.
- Build and maintain strong professional partnerships with Local Authorities, Children’s Services, Courts, Cafcass, health professionals and other agencies.
- Oversee health & safety, quality assurance, audits, incident management and continuous improvement.
- Prepare for and lead on Ofsted inspections and maintain registration requirements.
- Promote a reflective, trauma-informed and child-centred working culture that supports staff wellbeing and professional development.
Experience
Essential
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent qualification recognised for Ofsted registration).
- Minimum of 2 years’ management experience (within the last 5 years) in a residential family centre, family assessment service, or children’s residential care setting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Residential Family Centre Regulations 2002, National Minimum Standards, and Ofsted regulatory frameworks.
- Significant experience of managing complex safeguarding issues and family risk factors (domestic abuse, substance misuse, mental health, neglect).
- Proven experience of overseeing high-quality parenting and risk assessments for court and local authority purposes.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, including supervision, appraisal and performance management.
- Experience of working with Ofsted and successfully managing regulatory inspections.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Unrestricted right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available).
Desirable
- Professional Social Work qualification (or other relevant children’s services qualification).
- Experience of managing multidisciplinary teams in a residential family assessment environment.
- Experience of court proceedings, report writing for court, and acting as an expert witness.
- Knowledge of psychologically informed environments, attachment theory and trauma-informed practice.
- Experience of mobilising or developing new residential family assessment services.
