Duties
- Prepare and cook nutritious meals and snacks suitable for young children, adhering to dietary guidelines and nutritional standards
- Follow strict food safety protocols to maintain cleanliness and prevent contamination in all kitchen activities
- Assist with meal planning and portioning to ensure balanced nutrition and appealing presentation
- Maintain organized storage of ingredients, supplies, and prepared foods in compliance with health regulations
- Support the serving process by helping distribute meals efficiently and courteously to children
- Keep detailed records of food inventory, meal schedules, and safety checks
- Collaborate with staff to accommodate special dietary needs and allergy considerations
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking, ideally within a childcare or similar setting
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in kitchen hygiene
- Hands-on experience with meal preparation, kitchen equipment, and food handling procedures
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong understanding of culinary techniques suitable for preparing meals for young children
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with team members and support a positive dining environment
- Nice-to-have: previous restaurant or catering experience; familiarity with serving food in a childcare setting; certification in food safety or culinary training
