The Early Bird Bakery is looking for a full-time Junior Sous Chef to join our growing team at Kings Heath and help deliver exceptional food across brunch, lunch and our upcoming evening offer.
Following the expansion of our Kings Heath site, we’ve seen fantastic growth and are now looking for a talented chef to support the kitchen team and help drive the next stage of the business.
About the role
As Junior Sous Chef, you’ll work closely with our Head Chef and chef-owner to deliver our creative menus to a consistently high standard. You’ll play a key role in prep, service, kitchen organisation and supporting new menu ideas as we continue to grow.
This is a full-time role of 42.5 hours across 5 days, including a mix of daytime, evenings and weekends. While much of our trade is daytime-focused, flexibility for some evening shifts will be essential as we launch an evening concept later this year.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and cook dishes to a consistently high standard
- Support the Head Chef with menu development, specials and new ideas
- Maintain excellent food hygiene, safety and cleanliness standards
- Assist with stock rotation, prep, ordering and general kitchen organisation
- Help ensure smooth, efficient service and strong communication across the team
- Support the rollout of new menus and the launch of evening service
