Position Summary:
As a Service PCV Driver, you are responsible for providing a safe, punctual, and friendly service for passengers traveling between initial pick up points along designated routes. You will be the face of Roberts Travel Group, delivering a smooth journey experience while ensuring compliance with all operational and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Safety and Service Operations
- Operate designated services according to schedule and in compliance with the Highway Code.
- Ensure passenger safety and comfort at all times, including assisting passengers who need help boarding or alighting.
- Maintain clear and courteous communication with customers and control teams.
- Report any accidents, incidents, or safety concerns immediately to management.
- Always comply with the Company’s Drug & Alcohol, Health & Safety, and Operational policies.
2. Vehicle Checks & Condition Reporting
- Conduct daily walk-round vehicle checks before and after shifts using the appropriate defect reporting systems.
- Log any issues or defects and ensure they are communicated clearly to the Duty Fitter or Operations Team.
- Carry out changeover checks when taking over or handing over a vehicle.
- Refuel vehicles as required and keep interiors clean and presentable.
3. Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure full compliance with PCV driving laws, including proper use of tachographs and driver cards.
- Submit required paperwork and support new or less experienced drivers with documentation.
- Maintain up-to-date DQC, PCV licence, and DBS clearance.
4. Ticketing & Cash Handling
- Issue and check tickets using the company’s electronic ticketing system.
- Ensure passengers have valid tickets or concessionary passes.
- Ensure all incorrectly issued tickets are cancelled and under no circumstances resold for travel. All tickets must be issued exclusively through the authorised ticketing system or, where necessary, the designated emergency ticketing system.
- Handle fares and maintain a suitable float for change.
- Reconcile cash takings at the end of the shift following company procedures, using pay-in systems or drop safes as required
5. Customer Service & Professionalism
- Provide a professional service to all customers.
- Be helpful and courteous, especially during peak travel times or service disruptions.
- Use on-board equipment (e.g., ramps, information screens) to assist all passengers.
- Make service announcements and provide information as needed.
- Check the vehicle for lost property and hand it in according to procedures.
6. Appearance & Conduct
- Wear full company uniform and maintain high personal presentation standards.
- Represent the company professionally both on and off duty.
7. Other Duties
- Carry out other driving or related duties as directed by the Service Delivery Coordinator or Manager.
- Be flexible with working hours, including weekends, early starts, and late finishes as service demands.
