Overview
The Retail and Technical Systems Manager is the primary contact for retail customers and responsible for providing support with customer complaint investigations, maintaining technical systems, hosting site visits and audits, as well as ensuring product is produced to high quality, customer standards and within safety, integrity, and legality requirements (both at Flatfish Ltd and Regal Fish). The individual in this position is in a management role and is expected to adhere to Flatfish Limited standards of integrity, respect, responsibility, loyalty, and commitment). Working in tandem with the current post holder, each with devolved responsibilities for maintaining open communication channels with our retail customers.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Proactively champion a positive food safety culture throughout the business
· Co-lead the site (and its subsidiaries) in the continuous improvement of the Quality and Food Safety standards and systems, whilst contributing to the delivery of the key objectives of safe, legal, and quality products by identifying and delivering continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the quality and efficiency of the site, helping to retain the company’s steadfast reputation as a fish category leader
· To provide direction and support to the Technical department, managing and facilitating staff performance and development and ensuring the departmental structure and skills are developed to meet changing business requirements
· Effectively manage high-level communication on all Technical matters with customers, acting as the Technical primary contact
· Co-Lead the HACCP Food Safety programme, ensuring the HACCP Study is reviewed and updated on a regular basis in order to meet regulatory, customer and third-party audit requirements. Scheduling and preparing for internal FSQMS meetings such as the HACCP review and Senior Management meetings
· Manage and update the broader Food Safety & Quality Management System (FSQMS) in collaboration with the sites Technical, Quality and Compliance Team, ensuring that the Food Safety and Quality Manual, Procedures and Records are fit for purpose, accessible and compliant with regulatory, customer, retailer and third-party standards, guidelines, and codes of practice
· Co-Lead visits and audits of a technical nature to site and ensure that these are managed effectively, to ensure continuous certification is maintained in collaboration with the wider-team
· Formalisation of communication methods to ensure that everyone both within and outside of the technical team are aware of roles and responsibilities, and so that both internal and external stakeholders are kept fully abreast of workload and progress within the department
· Assess direct reports through 1:1’s on a regular basis and ensure that this is by both performance objectives and also training and development needs for each individual against the set training and development matrix
· Utilise data-driven insights to identify trends, areas of improvement, and successes whilst leading initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and quality standards - including monthly reporting to retail stakeholders
· Responsible for the management, completion, and maintenance of the internal audit programme for the FSQMS. Ensuring that all internal audits are undertaken to schedule and are completed and closed-out within agreed timescales
· Proactively identify and implement continuous improvement to the FSQMS programme (incl. subsidiaries) to prevent recurrence of issues, to include cascading of information to the wider workforce including training where necessary (including sign off of changes)
· Provide technical support to the wider business, providing governance and leading proactive continuous improvement of food safety and quality culture and of food defence by cross functional engagement
· Ensure that all team members pursue safe working practices and all accident and reporting procedures are adhered to
· Assist the Head of Technical and Marine Sustainability
N.B This is not an exhaustive list of duties and, as a result, you may be required to undertake additional ad-hoc duties as required, based on the needs of the business. Furthermore, you will be required to undertake any training that the Company deems necessary that may assist you to effectively carry out the above responsibilities.

Pay: £40,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
