Job Summary
Cranbrook Medical Practice is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Health Care Assistant (HCA) to join our friendly and supportive clinical team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing practice serving just over 6,500 patients in the rapidly expanding new town of Cranbrook, East Devon. The successful candidate will be an excellent team player with strong communication and organisational skills, the ability to work independently when required, and a positive, flexible approach to meeting the needs of our patients.
Main Duties of the Role
Working under the supervision of the Practice Nursing Team, you will support the delivery of safe, effective and patient-centred clinical care. Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
· Phlebotomy.
· Recording ECGs.
· Blood pressure monitoring and home blood pressure management.
· Supporting patients with chronic disease monitoring.
· Wound care and dressing changes.
· Administration of B12 injections under a Patient Specific Direction (PSD).
· Administration of influenza and pneumococcal vaccinations under a PSD.
· Urinalysis and preparation of laboratory specimens.
· Removal of sutures and clips.
· Chaperoning during clinical examinations.
· Undertaking new patient health checks where appropriate.
· Supporting the practice team with a range of clinical and administrative duties.

Essential Criteria
· Experience working as a Health Care Assistant.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Experience of working with the public.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
· Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload.
· Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards of care.
· Competent IT skills and accurate clinical record keeping.
· Understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding and clinical governance.
· Commitment to ongoing professional development.
Desirable
· Experience working within General Practice.
· NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
· Experience using SystmOne.
· Experience supporting chronic disease management clinics.
· Experience undertaking vaccinations under PSDs.
Pay listed is approximate and may vary depending on experience and qualifications.
