About us
The Natural Energy Company has been helping homeowners and businesses across Scotland transition to renewable energy for more than 20 years. We design and install high-quality air source heat pump, solar panel and battery storage systems tailored to each property. Our growing team combines technical expertise, trusted industry partnerships and exceptional customer service to help customers reduce their energy costs, lower their carbon emissions and gain greater control over their energy.
About the role
We’re looking for a creative and commercially minded Social Media & Video Content Creator to bring our work, people and expertise to life. You’ll be responsible for developing content ideas, writing scripts, filming and editing high-quality videos, and managing our social media channels. A key focus of the role will be growing our YouTube presence and producing content that educates homeowners, builds trust in our brand and generates qualified leads within the areas we serve. This is a hands-on role for someone who is just as comfortable filming an installation on-site as they are editing a YouTube video, creating a social media graphic or planning the next month’s content.
Key responsibilities
- Develop creative content ideas that support the company’s wider marketing and business objectives.
- Plan, script, film and edit engaging long-form videos for YouTube.
- Repurpose long-form videos into effective short-form content for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok and Meta advertising.
- Capture high-quality photo and video content across installation sites, customer properties, company events and the office.
- Turn technical renewable energy topics into clear, useful and engaging content for homeowners.
- Work closely with the Marketing Manager to plan and deliver content calendars, campaigns and video concepts.
- Interview customers, installers, company leaders and industry partners to create informative and credible content.
- Create behind-the-scenes content showcasing our team, installations, technology and day-to-day operations.
- Manage the company’s social media channels, ensuring content is posted consistently and audience comments and messages are appropriately handled.
- Create graphics and supporting content for social media, digital advertising and email marketing campaigns.
- Use Meta Business Suite and YouTube Studio to schedule content, manage uploads and monitor performance.
- Review content performance and use the results to improve reach, engagement, audience growth and lead generation.
- Monitor social media trends, platform developments and relevant industry topics to identify new content opportunities.
- Build relationships with local businesses, manufacturers and industry partners through collaborative content and campaigns.
- Take ownership of the continued growth, quality and consistency of The Natural Energy Company’s digital presence.
Skills and experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong videography, photography and video-editing skills.
- Experience using professional camera, audio and lighting equipment.
- Experience creating and editing content for YouTube and social media.
- The ability to develop ideas and write clear, engaging video scripts.
- A strong understanding of what makes content attention-grabbing, informative and commercially effective.
- An eye for identifying content opportunities that will engage homeowners in our target areas and generate leads for the business.
- Experience managing business accounts across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube.
- Working knowledge of Meta Business Suite and YouTube Studio.
- Strong creative storytelling and visual communication skills.
- Excellent organisation, planning and project-management abilities.
- Confidence interviewing customers and external partners.
- The ability to work independently, manage deadlines and take ownership of projects from initial idea through to publication.
- A willingness to travel to customer properties and installation sites to capture content.
Experience within renewable energy, home improvement, construction or another technical industry would be beneficial, but it is not essential. What matters most is your ability to understand a subject quickly and turn it into content that people genuinely want to watch.
