Job Overview
We are looking for caring, compassionate, reliable and dedicated Homecare Complex Support Workers to join our team and provide high-quality, person-centred support to an individual with complex care and support needs within their own home.
This is more than simply a care role. We are looking for people who genuinely want to make a positive difference to the life of the individual they support. The right person will be patient, understanding and willing to build a trusting relationship, while being there for the individual through both their good and more challenging days.
You will work as part of a 3:1 or 4:1 support package, depending on the individual's needs, working alongside other members of the care team to provide safe, consistent and responsive support.
The successful candidate will understand that working in someone's home means becoming an important part of their support network. You should be willing to listen, encourage, reassure and support the individual to live as independently and meaningfully as possible, while always respecting their dignity, choices, privacy and personal space.
The Person We Are Looking For
We are particularly interested in people who:
- Are genuinely caring and compassionate, with a strong desire to help others.
- Want to build a positive, respectful and trusting relationship with the individual they support.
- Are willing to be there for the individual, providing reassurance, companionship and emotional support as well as practical care.
- Are patient and understanding and recognise that every person has different needs, preferences and ways of communicating.
- Treat the person they support as an individual rather than simply focusing on their care needs.
- Are reliable, committed and understand the importance of consistency within a complex care package.
- Are willing to go the extra mile to make the individual's day more positive.
- Can remain calm, respectful and professional during difficult or challenging situations.
- Understand the importance of promoting choice, independence, dignity and quality of life.
- Are comfortable working closely with other support workers as part of a 3:1 or 4:1 team.
- Are willing to learn about the individual, their routines, interests, preferences and communication style.
- Have a positive attitude and genuinely enjoy supporting people.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 3:1 or 4:1 support within the individual's own home, depending on the assessed level of support required.
- Develop a positive, respectful and trusting relationship with the individual.
- Provide person-centred support in accordance with individual care plans, risk assessments and support plans.
- Support the individual with personal care, including washing, bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting, while maintaining dignity and privacy.
- Assist with mobility, positioning and safe transfers, following moving and handling plans and using equipment appropriately.
- Support with medication in accordance with prescribed medication plans, company procedures and relevant training.
- Prepare meals and support with eating and drinking, taking account of dietary requirements, preferences and routines.
- Provide emotional support, reassurance and companionship.
- Support the individual with behaviours that may challenge using agreed positive behaviour support approaches.
- Encourage independence and enable the individual to make choices about their daily life wherever possible.
- Support the individual to participate in hobbies, interests, activities and community outings.
- Accompany the individual to appointments and other activities when required.
- Assist with appropriate household tasks to maintain a safe, clean and comfortable home environment.
- Monitor the individual's physical and emotional wellbeing and report any changes or concerns promptly.
- Follow care plans, risk assessments, safeguarding procedures, medication protocols and emergency procedures.
- Respond appropriately to incidents and emergencies, including providing first aid where trained.
- Maintain accurate and timely daily records and care documentation.
- Communicate effectively with family members, healthcare professionals and the wider care team.
- Work positively and respectfully with colleagues to provide consistent 3:1 or 4:1 support.
- Maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries and safeguarding standards at all times.
Essential Requirements
- PMVA (Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression) training is essential.
- Previous experience in complex care, homecare, supported living, residential care, nursing care or a similar environment is desirable.
- Experience supporting individuals with complex care or support needs.

- Ability to build professional and trusting relationships with individuals and their families.
- Ability to follow detailed care plans and risk assessments.
- Understanding of safe moving and handling procedures.
- Knowledge of medication procedures and safe medication administration.
- Ability to remain calm and professional when faced with challenging situations.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a 3:1 or 4:1 support team.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the individual's wellbeing.
- Willingness to undertake additional training relevant to the individual's specific needs.
Desirable Experience
- Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care.
- Experience working within a complex homecare package.
- Experience supporting individuals with behaviours that may challenge.
- Experience supporting individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's, acquired brain injuries or learning disabilities.
- Experience with specialist care needs such as PEG feeding, epilepsy management, catheter care, oxygen therapy or other clinical interventions, where relevant to the individual's care plan.
- Valid UK driving licence, where driving is required as part of the support package.
What We Are Looking For Above All
We are looking for someone who genuinely cares.
Technical skills and experience are important, but the right attitude is just as important to us. The individual we support deserves a care team who will take the time to get to know them, understand what matters to them and support them as a person — not simply complete a list of care tasks.
We want support workers who will show up, be present, listen, encourage and care. Someone who can celebrate the individual's achievements, provide reassurance when things are difficult and help them feel safe, valued and respected in their own home.
If you are someone who takes pride in making a difference, is willing to learn and is committed to being a consistent and positive presence in someone's life, we would love to hear from you.
Join us in providing care that is not just about meeting someone's needs, but about helping them live a life that is meaningful, dignified and as independent as possible.
