Catering Manager – Nursing Home
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Catering Manager to join the team at a well-established nursing home. This role offers an excellent opportunity to lead a catering service that provides nutritious, high-quality meals while supporting the health, wellbeing, dignity, and individual dietary needs of residents.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the catering operation, leading the kitchen team, maintaining excellent food safety standards, and ensuring residents receive an enjoyable and personalised dining experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the day-to-day catering operation within the nursing home.
- Deliver high-quality food, presentation, and service that meet residents' dietary needs, preferences, and expectations.
- Plan and maintain varied, nutritious menu cycles that provide choice while working within agreed budgets.
- Cater for special dietary, cultural, medical, allergy, and nutritional requirements.
- Manage food ordering, stock levels, supplies, and equipment efficiently to minimise waste and control costs.
- Monitor food quality, portion control, presentation, and consistency to ensure meals are delivered to a consistently high standard.
- Lead, supervise, train, and support kitchen staff to maintain excellent standards of food preparation and service.
- Ensure the kitchen operates in full compliance with food hygiene legislation, HACCP requirements, allergen controls, and Health & Safety regulations.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation throughout the kitchen and food preparation areas.
- Build positive relationships with residents, families, colleagues, suppliers, and other professionals.
- Work closely with the Home Manager and care team to ensure residents' nutritional needs are identified and appropriately supported.
- Manage the catering budget effectively, monitoring food and labour costs and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Ensure catering records, temperature checks, cleaning schedules, allergen information, and other required documentation are maintained accurately.
- Report catering-related concerns, equipment faults, maintenance issues, or food safety concerns promptly.
- Participate in relevant meetings and contribute to continuous service improvements.

Requirements
- Proven experience as a Catering Manager, Chef Manager, Head Chef, or similar catering leadership role.
- Experience working within a nursing home, care home, healthcare, or similar setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food hygiene, HACCP, allergen management, and Health & Safety regulations.
- Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above).
- Experience planning nutritious and varied menus for residents with different dietary requirements.
- Experience managing specialist dietary, cultural, medical, and allergy requirements.
- Experience supervising, training, and supporting kitchen staff.
- Experience managing catering budgets, food costs, stock, and suppliers.
- Strong organisational, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Enhanced DBS clearance, or willingness to obtain one.
- Right to work in the UK.
