We’re looking for a thoughtful, patient Support Worker to support an intelligent, engaging 54-year-old autistic man living independently in Camberley.
He’s been living in his own home for over 10 years, supported by his sister and a small team. This role offers an opportunity to build a meaningful working relationship and contribute to his independence, wellbeing and sense of stability.
He experiences high levels of anxiety and has PTSD, so a calm, consistent, low-arousal and trauma-informed approach is essential. He values respectful, grounded interactions and enjoys thoughtful conversation, 80s music, especially rock, vintage computer games, and caring for his collection of carnivorous plants.
He shares his home with a small, friendly dog, so being comfortable around dogs is important. There is no personal care involved.
Occupational RequirementThis role is open to women only because, due to the specific trauma-related support needs of the individual, support cannot safely and effectively be provided by a male worker.
