We are looking for an experienced, organised and reliable Bookkeeper to join our roofing company and take responsibility for the day-to-day bookkeeping and financial administration of the business.
The role will cover purchase and sales ledgers, bank reconciliations, payments, payroll, CIS, VAT support and general accounts administration.
Our accounts are managed using Xero, so previous experience using Xero would be highly desirable.
You will work closely with the Directors and will have support available where required.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include:
- Maintaining accurate day-to-day bookkeeping records using Xero
- Managing the purchase ledger
- Managing the sales ledger
- Processing supplier invoices and credit notes
- Raising and processing sales invoices
- Reconciling supplier statements
- Carrying out bank reconciliations in Xero
- Preparing and processing supplier and subcontractor payments
- Monitoring outstanding customer accounts and assisting with credit control
- Processing payroll and maintaining payroll records
- Managing CIS deductions and CIS administration
- Processing subcontractor information and payments
- Maintaining accurate records for VAT
- Assisting with the preparation of VAT returns
- Working with our accountants and providing information when required
- Dealing with accounts queries from suppliers, customers and subcontractors
- Producing reports and financial information for the Directors when required
- Maintaining organised and accurate financial records
- General bookkeeping and accounts administration
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in bookkeeping and day-to-day accounts
- Experienced with Xero or confident working with Xero
- Confident managing purchase and sales ledgers
- Experienced with bank reconciliations and payments
- Experienced with payroll
- Familiar with VAT
- Familiar with CIS, ideally within the construction industry
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Able to manage their own workload and meet deadlines
- Reliable, trustworthy and discreet when handling financial information
- Comfortable communicating with suppliers, customers, subcontractors and accountants
Construction & CIS Experience
Previous experience working within roofing, construction or another trade-based business would be a strong advantage.
Knowledge and experience of the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) would be particularly beneficial due to the nature of our business and our use of subcontractors.
We are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper rather than a Finance Manager or qualified accountant. Support will be available where required, but you should be confident taking responsibility for the company's normal day-to-day bookkeeping.
Xero
The company uses Xero accounting software, so candidates with previous Xero experience would be preferred.
You should be comfortable using accounting software and confident learning and maintaining our existing bookkeeping processes.
Salary
Salary is negotiable and dependent on experience.
