Job Summary
Casa Mia is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic professional to join our kitchen team as a full-time Pastry Chef. We are a small, family-run bakery who specializes in Italian desserts sold at farmers markets and other events in the Yorkshire area. As our Pastry Chef, you'll be responsible for leading our team in preparing a wide variety of classic Italian pastries and cakes, as well as the occasional catering event featuring some of our more savory Italian recipes.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in baking high quality desserts in a professional kitchen, ideally with some familiarity with Italian recipes. Working hours will include early mornings and weekend work, typically for a total of 5 days per week.
All candidates must speak and understand English with a high level of proficiency. We are not currently able to provide sponsership for visas, so candidates must already have their right to work documents.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and bake a wide variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards
- Lead our team of kitchen staff in food preparation for markets
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area throughout shifts
- Follow food safety and hygiene regulations at all times
- Assist with bespoke baking orders as required, ensuring quality and consistency
- Organize staff schedules and tasks to ensure efficient work during busy periods
- Monitor stock levels and notify management of supplies needed for upcoming shifts
Requirements
- Proven experience in food production, food preparation, or as a chef within a bakery environment
- Knowledge of cooking techniques, baking, and culinary practices
- Understanding of food safety standards and hygiene regulations
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced setting
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Previous bakery experience in a management role is essential
- Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and evenings as required
- Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate is required
