Nature of Post
You will be registered with OFSTED and responsible for the home's day-to-day running and overall management. As a manager, you will ensure that the current home remains settled and young people are effectively safeguarded, achieving and enjoying. You will lead a team and ensure the home complies with current legislation and regulatory bodies.
Role and responsibilities
The role of a Registered Manager is to hold overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Children’s Home. Accountable for delivering a high-quality service provision.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Provision of a service encompassing all areas of the SCIFF to a ‘GOOD’ or higher standard.
· In accordance with our health and safety policies and procedures, the registered manager is responsible for ensuring Health and Safety guidelines are adhered to.
· Responsible for keeping an up-to-date register of all young people admitted, transitioned to another provision, and discharged from the service.
· Work closely with senior support staff to ensure the home runs smoothly and efficiently.
· Sound knowledge and understanding of various learning disabilities and experience in managing challenging behaviour.
· Ensure operational manning levels are maintained within the home. The registered manager will be responsible for recruiting new staff for the home and ensuring staff are Schedule 2 compliant in line with the Children’s Home Regulation 2015.
· Ensure you and your staff work according to the Home's Statement of Purpose and Ethos. Understand, update, and continuously improve relevant company documents, including The Statement of Purpose, Young Person’s Guide, policies, and practice, seeking approval and communicating changes to others as appropriate.
· Demonstrate effective leadership to direct and support the staff team to deliver person-centred childcare, working towards the best outcomes for each young person.
· Manage, supervise, and mentor staff; organise work patterns and training; and conduct and record regular supervisions and appraisals.
· Demonstrate a working knowledge, implement, adhere to, and give guidance to other staff on Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, The Children Act 1989 & 2004, Care Standards Act 2000, Equal Opportunities Policies, and Local Authority Child Protection Procedures, and any subsequent changes to said legislation.
· Demonstrate a working knowledge of Ofsted Inspection guidelines, promptly implementing any recommendations following an Inspection. Timely notification of any significant events or changes within the home, including completion of Regulation 45 Reports within the given timeframe.
· Ensure you and your staff team implement and adhere to in-house Safeguarding Policy and Local Authority Safeguarding procedures.
· Work cohesively and in partnership with team members and other professionals (Social Workers, Police, Education, and Health) to contribute and monitor the multidisciplinary assessment of children’s needs and support children for them to reach their full potential as outlined in their care plans, and in accordance with the company Policies & Procedures, Local Authority Instructions, and relevant legislation.
· Ensure all files paperwork and case files are organised, up to date and accessible for regulatory bodies. as and when required.
· Ensure young people’s finances are recorded and up to date.
· Ensure Local Authority Social Workers are notified of all significant events, incidents, important changes and physical interventions within 24 hours.
· Ensure that young people receive a sensitive residential service that best meets their social, racial, psychological, educational, cultural, physical identity and health care needs according to the Statement of Purpose and the Ethos of the Home and the company’s policies and procedures.
· Organising the availability and deployment of staff within the home; ensuring rotas are covered to meet the children's and young people's regulations and staffing needs.
· Ensure that the home is fit for purpose by ensuring that Fire Regulations and Health and Safety Regulations are met, Quality Assurance and Regulation 44 Reports action points are addressed promptly. Appropriate records are kept, and fire drill procedures are adhered to in accordance with the company's policies and procedures.
· Participate effectively in the on-call duty system.
· Attend monthly managers, Community and house meetings and implement any actions as agreed. To lead in-house monthly meetings for all staff working within the home and provide feedback to RI.
· Complete appropriate training within the required timeframes, including the level 5 diploma in Leadership and Management, ensuring an up-to-date training record is maintained.
· Additional responsibilities will include representation to Local Authorities at panels, conference meetings and Strategy Groups and analysing trends and Quality Assurance documentation to constantly strive to improve standards for young people in our care.
· Undertaking other duties as may be deemed appropriate from time to time.
· Must have good time management and organisational skills.
· We are looking for a candidate with proven managerial skills in a Residential Care Setting who is passionate about improving the lives and outcomes of children and young people. Other tasks
· To maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of participation in appropriate training activities and encourage and support staff in development and training.
· To undertake such other duties, training and hours of work as reasonably required and are consistent with this job's general level of responsibility.
· To undertake health and safety duties commensurate with the post and as detailed in the Health and Safety Policy.
· To provide suitable on-call arrangements when no managers are on the premises.
Pay: £24,420.00-£55,000.00 per year
