Job Purpose

To deliver an exceptional dining and service experience to Members and their guests within a Private Members’ Club. The Waiter plays a key role in providing attentive, professional, and personable service across all food and beverage offerings, ensuring Club standards and expectations are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities

Provide warm, professional, and engaging service to Members and guests at all times, to the style and standard as specified by the Dining Room Manager.

Set up, maintain, and clear tables to the required standard of service.

Take food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently, using the Club’s ordering systems.

Serve food and drinks promptly, ensuring correct presentation and attention to detail.

To have full knowledge of the dishes, wines and beverages on the menu and provide explanations and offer recommendations when appropriate.

Be competent in advising diners with food allergies or dietary requirements by liaising with the kitchen and bar teams.

Support service across à la carte dining, bar service, functions, and private events.

Ensure service areas are clean, organised, and well-stocked throughout service.

Adhere to all food hygiene, health & safety, and licensing regulations and ensure the Dining Room is maintained to a high level of cleanliness.

Communicate effectively with kitchen and bar teams to deliver seamless service.

Handle Member requests and queries professionally, escalating issues when required.

Follow cash handling and payment procedures accurately.

Support colleagues and contribute positively to a collaborative team environment.

Person Specification

Previous experience as a Waiter or in a similar front-of-house role within hospitality

Strong customer service skills with a friendly, professional manner

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work calmly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment

High level of attention to detail and presentation

Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends, and events

A team-focused attitude with a willingness to support colleagues
Experience working in a high-quality hospitality setting (Private Members’ Club, hotel, or premium restaurant) – desirable
Knowledge of food safety and service standards – desirable

Food Safety / Food Hygiene Level 2 – desirable
