Potter Farm Productions are a family run business, based near Thirsk, North Yorkshire, whose primary function is pullet rearing and free range and organic egg production.
What are we looking for?
We are recruiting for a Farm Manager to look after our state of the art 76,000 bird Free Range and Organic Aviary Rearing poultry site, near Boroughbridge, York. In your role, you will cover all aspects of the farm to achieve optimum performance and quality of birds whilst ensuring the farm is managed in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
Main duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Preparation of sheds to be ready for new intakes, ensuring best hygiene conditions to minimise disease risk.
- Close monitoring of chick intake/start to give best environment and conditions for chicks to thrive.
- Walking the birds and ensuring all is well, monitoring animal Health and Welfare.
- Checking food and water supplies etc.
- Working with vets and ensuring the company vaccination programme is correctly adhered to.
- Adherence and enforcement of all Biosecurity procedures.
- Support farm staff on production issues providing the ability to react quickly and effectively when dealing with challenging situations.
- Maintenance of accurate records and remain audit ready at all times.
- Adherence to company Health and Safety procedures.
- Reporting Issues to Senior Management.
Applicants will be expected to demonstrate knowledge of Poultry Farming and any Rearing experience would be advantageous. You will also be able to demonstrate great communication skills, be customer focused, have a high attention to detail, and be able to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and be able to work on own initiative. The role requires flexibility to meet the changing work flow of the role.
