We are looking for a compassionate, proactive and skilled SEN assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a visually impaired child within our nurturing nursery environment. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about inclusive early years education and confident in adapting learning experiences to meet individual needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Individual support — Provide tailored, hands-on assistance to enable the child to access all areas of nursery life safely and confidently.
- Visual impairment strategies — Implement and adapt activities using sensory, tactile and auditory approaches.
- Collaboration with staff — Work closely with the nursery team, SENCO and parents to ensure consistent support.
- Monitoring progress — Observe, record and communicate developmental progress and any emerging needs.
- Environment adaptation — Help maintain a safe, accessible and stimulating learning space.
About You
- Experience working with children with SEND, ideally visual impairment.
- Warm, patient and confident in building secure relationships with young children.
- Able to follow specialist guidance and contribute your own ideas.
- Reliable and committed to supporting the child’s wellbeing and development.

Operating hours:
This is an all year round position working 18 hours per week 8.30am - 1pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from September 2026. Closed Public Bank Holidays and week between Christmas and New Year.
