School Cleaner (Part-Time) – Term Time Only

Pay: £12.85 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 3:30pm – 5:30pm (10 hours per week)
Contract: Permanent, Part-Time (40 Working Weeks Per Year)

We're looking for a reliable and conscientious School Cleaner to join our friendly team, working at a local school in Melksham.

Planned Summer Deep Cleaning
The role includes planned summer deep cleaning during the school holidays as part of the contracted 40 working weeks.
As the proposed start date falls towards the end of the 2026 summer deep-cleaning programme, the only remaining planned deep-cleaning date for this year is:
Monday 24 August 2026: 8:00am – 1:00pm
Further planned summer deep-cleaning days will form part of your contracted working weeks in future years and will be communicated in advance.
Outside of planned deep-cleaning periods, your normal working pattern will be:
Monday to Friday
3:30pm – 5:30pm (Term Time Only)
You will work alongside both Clay & Co. Facilities Group colleagues and the school's existing cleaning team to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the school. While you will be responsible for your own designated cleaning area, you will also support the wider team to ensure the school is presented to an excellent standard each day.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean designated areas including classrooms, corridors, offices and washrooms.
- Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust and disinfect surfaces to maintain excellent hygiene standards.
- Empty bins and dispose of waste safely.
- Replenish consumables such as soap, toilet paper and paper towels.
- Use cleaning equipment safely and store it correctly after use.
- Follow company policies and health and safety procedures at all times.
- Report any maintenance issues, damage or health and safety concerns to your supervisor.

- 3:30pm – 5:30pm
- 10 hours per week
- 40 working weeks per year
Pay
- £12.85 per hour
- Permanent part-time contract.
- Pay is calculated on a pro rata basis based on your contracted hours over 40 working weeks per year and is paid evenly throughout the year.

- Previous cleaning experience is desirable but not essential.
- A positive, professional attitude and strong work ethic.
- High standards of cleanliness and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual and trustworthy.
- Good time management and organisational skills.
- Willingness to learn and follow safe systems of work.
Full induction and training will be provided.
