About The Bedroom Centre
The Bedroom Centre is a well-established, third-generation family business specialising in luxury beds and bedroom furniture. Established in 1978, we manufacture and deliver our products to customers throughout the UK.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced, reliable and hardworking Nationwide Delivery Driver & Bed Installer to join our delivery team, based from our Barnsley, South Yorkshire premises.
This is a hands-on role combining nationwide driving with the delivery, carrying and professional installation of beds and bedroom furniture within customers’ homes.
The Role
You will work as part of our delivery team, delivering and installing beds for customers throughout the UK.
This is not simply a driving position. Applicants must be comfortable with long-distance driving as well as the physical aspects of carrying large and heavy items, including upstairs, and assembling beds within customers’ homes.
A typical working week may include routes covering:
- London, Kent & Essex – approximately 500 miles with 6–10 customer deliveries
- South Yorkshire – Barnsley, Sheffield, Rotherham and surrounding areas
- Midlands – Nottingham, Leicester, Birmingham and surrounding areas
- West Yorkshire & North East – Wakefield, Leeds and through to Newcastle
We also regularly deliver further afield, including South Wales and Scotland, so applicants must be genuinely comfortable with nationwide driving and longer-distance routes when required.
Working Days & Hours
This is a full-time, permanent position working 4 days per week, giving you a consistent 3 days off each week – Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday.
Your standard working pattern will be:
Monday: 5:00am – 5:00pmThursday: 6:00am – 4:00pmFriday: 6:00am – 4:00pmSaturday: 7:00am – 1:00pm
Due to the nature of nationwide deliveries, these are the typical working hours. There may occasionally be some variation to finishing times due to traffic, delivery locations, customer access or other circumstances outside of our control.
You will also be expected to provide reasonable flexibility to help cover holidays when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Driving company delivery vehicles throughout the UK
- Loading and unloading beds, mattresses and bedroom furniture
- Carrying furniture safely into customers’ homes, including upstairs
- Professionally assembling and installing beds in the customer’s room of choice
- Ensuring products are handled carefully and arrive in excellent condition
- Providing a friendly, polite and professional service to every customer
- Completing multiple scheduled deliveries efficiently throughout the day
- Taking care of company vehicles, equipment and tools
- Working closely with your delivery partner and our office team
- Assisting with holiday cover and alternative delivery routes when required
Essential Requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold a full UK driving licence for a minimum of 10 years
- Have a clean driving licence
- Be confident and experienced with regular long-distance driving
- Be physically fit and capable of safely lifting and carrying large/heavy furniture
- Be comfortable carrying beds and furniture upstairs
- Have good practical/DIY skills and be confident using basic tools
- Be reliable, punctual and organised
- Have excellent customer service and communication skills
- Be comfortable working as part of a two-person delivery team
- Be flexible regarding routes and occasional changes to finishing times
- Be able to commute reliably to our Barnsley base, where delivery routes begin and end
Previous experience in multi-drop delivery, furniture delivery, removals, bed/furniture installation or a similar practical role would be highly advantageous.

Location

Applicants must be able to reliably commute to our Barnsley premises for the required early start times. All delivery routes operate from our Barnsley base.
