Job Summary:
To support adults who are seeking renewed contact with those they have been separated from by adoption.
To provide sensitive, professional, and trauma-informed support to individuals seeking contact or information through PAC-UK Private Intermediary Service. This includes adopted adults, birth relatives and descendants.
The role involves facilitating communication, offering emotional support, and ensuring ethical and legal standards are upheld throughout the intermediary process.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
1.
To effectively manage a varied caseload which may include adopted adults, birth parents, siblings separated by adoption and descendants / prescribed relatives of adopted people.
2.
To provide advice, guidance and support with issues arising from adoption and a desire for reconnection, including by agreement staffing the Family Connect Adviceline.
3.
To liaise with AAA and LA in following up statutory requests for LA views and recorded vetoes.
4.
To help service users make sense of information about adoption and tracing reports.
5.
To explore the possibility of connection or reunification between family members and manage expectations around the potential limitations of this.
6.
To facilitate initial contact with family members located.
7.
To support family members located to engage with the intermediary process in the way that feels the most appropriate for them.
8.
To respect and support decisions of all parties where connection cannot be facilitated.
9.
To maintain accurate and factual written case records of contacts for all service users, using the PAC-UK database.
10.
To keep abreast of new developments in adoption legislation and practice.
11.
To remain familiar with PAC-UK’s procedures and Family Action’s policies and procedures.
12.
To attend individual supervision prepared with updates and information about the full caseload.
13.
To raise safeguarding concerns and participate in safeguarding discussions with the Service Manager and Safeguarding Lead in adherence with PAC-UK Safeguarding procedures.
14.
To attend team meeting / group supervision up to six times per year.
15.
To participate in relevant training and development events.
16.
To carry out or participate in all such other tasks and activities that will help develop and promote the service.
17.
To participate in information giving or publicity activities as required in liaison with PAC-UK’s operations staff.

Pay: £13,633.00-£15,016.00 per year
