The Old School Surgery is a friendly rural GP practice caring for approximately 3,500 patients, with over 85% of our patient population receiving their medication directly from our dispensary.
We pride ourselves on providing a high standard of primary care to our patients and work closely together as an integrated and supportive team.
We are looking for a friendly, reliable and motivated individual to join our busy dispensing team.
The successful candidate will assist with the safe and accurate dispensing of medication to our patients, provide excellent patient service and support the smooth day-to-day running of the dispensary.
Main duties of the job
- Issue and dispense acute and repeat prescriptions safely and accurately.
- Order medication and maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Receive and unpack medication deliveries, check invoices and put stock away, ensuring appropriate stock rotation.
- Prepare and dispense weekly dosette boxes.
- Order, receive and dispense controlled drugs in accordance with appropriate procedures.
- Provide outstanding patient service and offer appropriate information and advice to patients and their carers within the scope of the role.
- Work as part of the dispensing team to contribute to the annual Dispensing Services Quality Scheme (DSQS) audit.
- Support the efficient day-to-day running of the dispensary.

Qualifications and experience
- NVQ Level 2 in Dispensing/Pharmacy Services is preferred.
- Previous dispensing, pharmacy or healthcare experience would be advantageous.
However, you do not need to be an experienced or qualified dispenser to apply.
We would also be very happy to hear from candidates who are enthusiastic, keen to learn a new skill and interested in developing a long-term career within dispensing and primary care.

Hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday – 08:30 to 18:30 – 27 hours per week with a 1-hour unpaid lunch each day
Flexibility to provide additional cover for holidays and sickness throughout the week is required.
Salary: Qualified Dispenser - £15.00 per hour / Trainee Dispenser - £13.00 per hour
Pay: £15.00 per hour
