Role Overview
This role is designed to strengthen our design capability across website and application projects by providing dedicated UI/UX expertise within the development team.
The UI/UX Designer will be responsible for creating high-quality, user-focused digital experiences from initial concepts and wireframes through to detailed, development-ready designs. The role will work closely with clients, developers and internal stakeholders to understand requirements, solve design challenges and create intuitive, engaging and responsive interfaces.
The successful candidate will have strong commercial experience designing websites and applications, be highly proficient in Figma, and be confident presenting ideas and communicating directly with clients. They will be comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously and taking ownership of design work throughout the project lifecycle.
Job Description
- Design high-quality websites, web applications and digital interfaces for new and existing clients.
- Work closely with clients to understand their business, audiences, objectives and project requirements.
- Translate client and business requirements into effective user experiences and polished visual designs.
- Create wireframes, user journeys, prototypes, UI concepts and detailed development-ready designs using Figma.
- Take a mobile-first approach to design, ensuring interfaces work effectively across mobile, tablet and desktop devices.
- Apply established UI/UX principles and best practices throughout the design process.
- Work collaboratively with the development team to ensure designs are practical, achievable and implemented accurately.
- Present design concepts, prototypes and design decisions confidently to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Respond constructively to client feedback and iterate designs while maintaining usability, consistency and overall design quality.
- Manage multiple design projects and priorities simultaneously while meeting agreed project timescales.
- Contribute to the continual improvement of our design processes, standards and reusable design systems.

Working Pattern
This is a hybrid role based around our St Neots office. The successful candidate will be required to work from the St Neots office three days per week, with the remaining working days available for remote working.
Responsibilities
- Lead the UI/UX design process for website and web application projects.
- Participate in client discovery sessions, workshops and project kick-off meetings.
- Work with clients and internal stakeholders to understand user needs, business objectives and project requirements.
- Understand and challenge client requirements where appropriate to ensure the best possible user experience.
- Produce sitemaps, user journeys, wireframes and interactive prototypes.
- Produce polished, responsive UI designs for websites and applications.
- Create well-structured Figma files that are clear, consistent and ready for development handover.
- Build and maintain reusable components, design systems and shared Figma libraries where appropriate.
- Consider responsive behaviour and interaction states throughout the design process.
- Design mobile-first experiences that scale effectively across different devices and screen sizes.
- Ensure designs consider usability, accessibility, consistency and established UI/UX best practices.
- Work closely with developers throughout implementation, providing clarification and adapting designs where technical considerations require it.
- Review implemented designs and provide feedback to help maintain visual and UX quality through to project completion.
- Present and explain design concepts and decisions clearly and confidently to clients.
- Manage client feedback and translate it into appropriate design changes.
- Balance the requirements and priorities of multiple concurrent projects.
- Maintain organised project files, Figma workspaces, components and design documentation.
- Help establish and improve internal UI/UX standards and processes across the development team.
- Keep informed of developments in UI/UX, website design, accessibility and modern digital design practices.
Required Skillsets
- Strong commercial experience using Figma to create website and application designs, including components, auto layout, prototyping and collaborative design workflows.
- Strong commercial experience in modern website design, supported by a portfolio demonstrating high-quality digital work.
- Strong experience designing responsive websites using a mobile-first approach.
- Strong understanding of UI/UX principles, usability and interaction design.
- Experience designing user interfaces for web applications and more complex digital products.
- Excellent visual design skills, including typography, spacing, layout, hierarchy and composition.
- Strong understanding of responsive design and how interfaces should adapt across different devices and screen sizes.
- Understanding of web accessibility principles and designing accessible digital experiences.
- Ability to create wireframes, user journeys, prototypes and detailed high-fidelity interfaces.
- Experience creating and working with design systems and reusable component libraries.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Confident communicating directly with clients, presenting design concepts and explaining the reasoning behind design decisions.
- Comfortable receiving, interpreting and constructively responding to client feedback.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines and priorities simultaneously.
- Experience working closely with developers within an agency, software or digital product environment.
- Good understanding of how websites are implemented and the practical considerations involved in translating designs into responsive front-end interfaces.
- High attention to detail and a strong commitment to design quality and consistency.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working within a digital agency environment.
- Experience designing SaaS products, portals, dashboards or other web applications.
- Understanding of HTML, CSS and modern front-end development principles.
- Experience conducting user research, usability testing or analysing user behaviour.
- Understanding of WCAG accessibility standards.
- Experience working with CMS-driven websites.
- Experience contributing to or maintaining organisation-wide design systems.
Role Objective
The primary objective of this role is to raise the quality and consistency of UI/UX design across our website and application projects while improving collaboration between clients, designers and developers.
The role will take ownership of the design process from early discovery and UX thinking through to polished, development-ready interfaces. It will help ensure that projects are designed around the needs of real users, work effectively across devices and provide the development team with clear, considered and technically achievable designs.
The UI/UX Designer will also help strengthen our overall design capability by improving processes, establishing reusable design standards and ensuring that excellent user experience becomes a consistent part of how we deliver digital projects.
