Healthcare Assistant (HCA)Role Overview
As a Healthcare Assistant (HCA), you will play a vital role in supporting vulnerable individuals with their daily needs. You will work in domiciliary care, assisting service users in their own homes with personal care while ensuring their comfort, safety, and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients with personal care (washing, dressing, grooming, and toileting)
- Support with mobility and safe moving & handling
- Help with feeding and hydration
- Monitor and record patient condition (temperature, pulse, and respiration where trained)
- Provide emotional support and companionship
- Maintain a clean and safe environment
- Follow care plans and report any changes to senior staff
- Ensure safeguarding, privacy, and dignity of all service users
Requirements
- Minimum 6 months' care experience in the UK (preferred but not essential for some roles)
- Right to work in the UK
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
- Other compliance documents as required
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate, reliable, and professional attitude
- Ability to work flexible shifts
- Female carers are preferred for this role due to the specific care needs and preferences of the service users.
Desirable
- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Health & Social Care
- Manual Handling and Basic Life Support training
- Experience in domiciliary care, care homes, hospitals, or community care
