Halon Recycling Team Leader

Starting salary: £39,000-£41,000 depending on skills and experience
Avia Technique is a leading UK aviation maintenance and repair centre, specialising in critical safety and survival equipment. We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Halon Recycling Team Leader to join our Erith facility.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically competent technician with strong leadership capabilities who is passionate about developing people, driving operational excellence and maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and compliance.
The Role:
As Team Leader, you will lead the Halon Recycling operation at Avia Technique Ltd, ensuring the safe handling, testing, and management of halon gas while maintaining accurate inventory records and supporting production requirements. The role is responsible for overseeing equipment and facility upkeep, driving compliance with quality and health & safety standards, and leading a small technical team to deliver efficient and reliable operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage halon gas inventory and maintain accurate records
- Lead day-to-day recycling and testing activities
- Ensure equipment, facilities, and certifications are maintained
- Support production requirements through timely gas supply
- Supervise and develop a small team
- Drive continuous improvement, quality, and health & safety standards
Person Profile:
- Experience in a technical, engineering, manufacturing, industrial, or similarly regulated operational environment (essential)
- Strong inventory control and record-keeping skills (essential)
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability (essential)
- Confident using IT systems and digital records (essential)
- Leadership or supervisory experience is advantageous (desirable)
- Knowledge of gas handling or quality processes (desirable)
