About the role
We’re seeking a GDC-registered Lead Dental Nurse & Practice Manager to join our friendly independent two-surgery practice in Lesmahagow. Our practice is easily accessible from Lanark, Hamilton and the surrounding areas.
In this role, you will lead and support a team of 4 dental nurses, while taking ownership of day-to-day practice operations. This is a key role at the heart of our practice — supporting clinical quality, ensuring compliance, and maintaining strong team organisation.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced dental nurse looking to progress into a leadership and management position within a well-established independent practice.
Salary & hours
- £34,000–£37,000 per annum (depending on experience)
- Full-time: 37.5 hours per week
- GDC registration paid
- 28 days holiday leave including bank holidays
Working hours:
- Monday: 9:00–1:00 / 2:00–5:30
- Tuesday: 9:00–1:00 / 2:00–5:30
- Wednesday: 9:00–1:00 / 2:00–6:30
- Thursday: 9:00–1:00 / 2:00–5:00
- Friday: 9:00–1:00 / 2:00–5:00
Key Responsibilities the role will include, but not be limited to the following:
Lead Dental Nurse duties (clinical support)
- Lead dental nurse team and support clinicians chairside when required
- Help maintain consistent clinical standards across a two-surgery environment
Day-to-day HR administration and people management (with support from our external HR advisers where required)
- Rota management
- Performance reviews
- Return to work meetings
- Staff absence management
- Recruitment
- Induction of new staff
- Coordinating mandatory training
- Holiday leave management
Compliance & Governance
- Maintaining practice compliance by ensuring policies, procedures and documentation meet GDC standards, NHS Scotland requirements and internal practice policies.
Reception cover
- You may be required to provide reception cover as needed to support the team.
Experience required
- Essential: GDC-registered dental nurse
- Desirable: knowledge of NHS Scotland SDR (Schedule of Dental Remuneration) fees/codes.
- Desirable: previous dental management / practice management experience
For the right candidate: management experience is not essential if you have strong organisational skills, leadership, computer confidence, and clear communication.
