About the role
Your day will be varied and rewarding. You will support individuals to take part in a range of activities based around their interests, abilities and aspirations. This may include community activities, creative sessions, life-skills development, social opportunities, sensory activities and other experiences that promote independence and wellbeing.
You will also:
- Provide person-centred support that respects each individual's choices, dignity and independence.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with the people who use our service.
- Encourage participation in activities and support individuals to develop new skills.
- Support people to access the local community and take part in meaningful activities.
- Promote communication, choice and independence.
- Follow individual support plans, risk assessments and agreed procedures.
- Work positively with colleagues, families and other professionals where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to reviews and ongoing support planning.
- Promote a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment.
About you
We are looking for someone who genuinely wants to make a positive difference to people's lives. You will be patient, reliable and caring, with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
You will ideally have:
- Experience of working in a health, social care, support or community setting.
- A person-centred approach and an understanding of the importance of choice, dignity and independence.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team while also using your own initiative.
- A calm, patient and positive approach.
- The ability to support individuals with different needs, abilities and communication styles.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of the people we support.
Previous experience is desirable, but not essential. We are happy to consider applicants who have the right values, attitude and commitment and can provide appropriate training and development.
Why join us?
We offer a supportive working environment where every team member has the opportunity to make a real difference. You will be part of a team that values respect, inclusion, choice, independence and person-centred support.
You will receive appropriate induction and training, with opportunities to develop your skills and progress within the organisation.
