The Role
We are looking for an experienced editor for podcasts to join our busy and growing studio. You'll take our long-form, art-and-history conversations from raw studio files to polished, published episodes and shareable social content – shaping both how they look and how they sound.
Video & Podcast Editing:
- Intuitive Visual Pacing: Lead the multi-camera video editing of our studio sessions using Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve. You will master the pacing of long-form, intellectual conversations, knowing exactly when to cut between angles to maintain a natural and engaging flow.
- Visual Asset Integration & Clearance: Seamlessly integrate high-resolution artwork visuals and b-roll. You will instinctively identify when an image is required to support the dialogue, source the correct asset, and manage the necessary copyright clearances.
- Full-Cycle Production: Understand and execute the full production cycle of a podcast, coordinating effectively from initial scheduling and recording through to final delivery.
- Social Optimisation: Cut and package high-impact, captioned short-form clips (TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts) to drive audience discovery.
Audio Enhancement & Engineering:
- Vocal Polish: Apply professional EQ, compression, and levelling to enhance recorded vocals, ensuring a warm, rich, and high-end studio sound.
- Audio Restoration: Use industry-standard tools (such as iZotope RX) to clean up unexpected studio anomalies, mouth clicks, plosives, and background noise.
- Mic Bleed Elimination: Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail when mixing two voices, actively identifying and eliminating microphone bleed and crosstalk to ensure a pristine, isolated stereo field.
- Atmospheric Soundscapes: Seamlessly mix in music beds and subtle environmental sound design to make our art-historical narratives feel deeply immersive.
Ideal Experience & Qualifications
- Podcast Pedigree: Proven experience editing and producing visual and audio podcasts. A strong portfolio demonstrating your previous podcast work is essential.
- Knowledge & Passion: A genuine interest in podcasts as a medium, combined with a strong knowledge of – and passion for – art and history.
- An Artistic Eye: A natural aesthetic appreciation for art and visual culture, ensuring that fine art is showcased elegantly and respectfully on screen.
- Software Mastery: Expert proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, alongside a strong Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) of choice (Audition, Pro Tools, Reaper, etc.).
- Organisation: Excellent workflow management skills, with the ability to reliably take an episode from raw studio files to fully published and scheduled assets.
