CCTV Engineer – Job Description
Role Overview, Duties, and Candidate Requirements
Position Summary
The CCTV Engineer (Field Service Engineer) is responsible for the installation, maintenance, servicing, and fault repair of security and surveillance systems, including but not limited to CCTV, access control systems, solar towers, and Ajax products. The role requires a proactive approach to customer service, strong technical troubleshooting skills, and the ability to manage both on-site and administrative tasks. While previous experience in CCTV and construction is preferred, comprehensive training will be provided for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
· Install, service, and maintain a broad range of security products, including CCTV, access control, solar towers, Ajax, and related systems.
· Perform site surveys and commission new systems, ensuring all installations meet customer requirements and industry standards.
· Diagnose and repair faults promptly, applying systematic problem-solving techniques to minimise system downtime.
· Complete all job reports and documentation accurately, using the E-works job system after each site visit.
· Submit completed paperwork with comprehensive details to the office and confirm receipt to ensure clear communication.
· Develop and implement preventative maintenance strategies to enhance the reliability of installed systems.
· Manage stock for both off-site and office locations, ensuring equipment and parts are available as needed.
· Oversee SIM and telecom management, providing advice and updates to management as required.
· Deliver high-quality customer service, adopting a customer-first approach in all interactions.
· Build and maintain positive business relationships with customers and peers.
· Carry out administrative duties as required and undertake additional tasks as assigned by management.
Skills and Experience
· Proven experience in the installation and maintenance of CCTV and related security systems is preferred, but not essential.
· Background in construction environments is advantageous.
· Strong networking and network setup/management skills.
· Excellent fault finding and problem-solving abilities.
· Effective communication skills for both customer and internal team interactions.
· Competence in using digital job management systems and completing accurate documentation.
Qualifications
· CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) is a minimum requirement for work on construction projects.
· Full UK driving licence is desirable.
· Additional technical or vocational qualifications in electrical or security systems are advantageous but not required.
Training and Development
Full product and systems training will be provided to successful candidates, ensuring that even those without direct CCTV or construction experience can progress and excel in the role.
Working Conditions
· Field-based role with travel to customer sites as required.
· Some office-based administrative duties.
· Flexible working hours may be needed to accommodate customer requirements.
