Job Title: GP Receptionist/ Care Navigator
Reports to: Practice Manager / Reception Manager
Job Purpose:
To provide a professional, compassionate, and efficient first point of contact for patients. The Care Navigator assesses patient enquiries using practice protocols and directs patients to the most appropriate healthcare professional or service while carrying out reception and administrative duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome patients in person, over the telephone, and through online systems.
- Book, amend, and cancel GP, nurse, and healthcare appointments.
- Signpost patients to the most appropriate service, such as a GP, practice nurse, pharmacist, physiotherapist, or community service.
- Handle prescription requests and administrative queries.
- Respond to emails and online patient enquiries.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with GDPR and NHS policies.
- Recognise urgent or emergency situations and escalate appropriately.
- Work closely with GPs, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Provide excellent customer service in a busy primary care environment.

Typical Qualifications
