The Role
We are looking for a practical, organised, and enthusiastic Laboratory Technician to join our R&D team. This is a hands-on role that will support laboratory operations, formulation development, equipment maintenance, testing, and sampling preparation.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a laboratory environment, has excellent attention to detail, and wants to grow within an innovative startup.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare adhesive formulations following established procedures.
- Assist scientists with laboratory experiments and product development.
- Conduct routine testing and accurately record experimental data.
- Prepare samples for customer trials and industrial testing.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure calibration records are up to date.
- Manage laboratory inventory, chemicals, consumables, and ordering.
- Ensure the laboratory remains clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety procedures.
- Prepare risk assessments, COSHH documentation, and laboratory records where required.
- Support pilot-scale manufacturing and scale-up activities.
- Assist with quality control testing and documentation.
About You
Essential:
- Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Chemistry
- Previous laboratory experience gained through industry, university, or placement.
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Comfortable following laboratory procedures and maintaining accurate records.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a small team.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Desirable:
- Experience working with polymers, adhesives, biomaterials, or chemical formulations.
- Knowledge of laboratory health and safety procedures.
- Experience within a startup or fast-paced environment.
