Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic Warehouse/Logistics Operations Manager to lead our supply chain and warehouse functions with energy and precision. In this pivotal role, you will oversee daily logistics activities, optimize warehouse processes, manage transportation systems, and ensure seamless coordination across all facets of our supply chain. Your leadership will drive continuous improvement initiatives, enhance operational efficiency, and uphold safety standards to support our growth and excellence.
Duties and Responsibility
Warehouse Operations
- Manage the day-to-day operation of the warehouse.
- Ensure the efficient receipt, storage, picking, packing and dispatch of all products.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through effective stock control procedures.
- Monitor warehouse performance and implement improvements to maximise efficiency.
- Ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately and on time.
- Develop and maintain warehouse operating procedures.
- Coordinate with Purchasing, Sales, and Production departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Monitor warehouse costs and identify opportunities for savings.
- Manage deliveries schedule to ensure efficient use of Armatile trucks and external transport suppliers where appropriate.
Warehouse Development Project
Lead the planning and delivery of warehouse improvements projects, including:
- Review the existing warehouse layout and recommend improvements.
- Design improved storage locations and product flows.
- Develop an efficient warehouse location and bin numbering system.
- Maximise warehouse storage capacity while maintaining safe working practices.
- Improve goods receiving, inspection and dispatch processes.
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all warehouse activities.
- Introduce Lean principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Plan and coordinate warehouse changes with minimal disruption to daily operations.
Warehouse Management System (WMS) / ERP Implementation
Take ownership of implementing a new warehouse computer system by:
- Working with software providers and internal stakeholders throughout implementation.
- Defining warehouse operational requirements for the new system.
- Reviewing and improving existing warehouse processes before implementation.
- Assisting with product coding, barcode implementation and location mapping.
- Supporting warehouse data migration and testing.
- Developing warehouse operating procedures within the new system.
- Coordinating user acceptance testing.
- Training warehouse employees on the new system.
- Monitoring implementation progress against agreed project plans.
- Identifying risks and implementing corrective actions.
- Supporting post-implementation improvements and optimisation.
Team Management
- Recruit, train, develop and motivate warehouse employees.
- Conduct performance reviews and manage employee development.
- Plan staffing levels to meet operational demands.
- Promote teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Manage employee attendance, discipline and performance in accordance with company policies.
Health & Safety
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation.
- Promote a strong safety culture throughout the warehouse.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained and operated safely.
- Investigate accidents and implement corrective actions.
Stock Control
- Maintain high stock accuracy.
- Manage stock takes and cycle counting programmes.
- Investigate stock discrepancies and implement preventative measures.
- Monitor inventory levels and minimise stock losses.
Performance Management
Develop and monitor KPIs including:
- Picking accuracy
- Stock accuracy

Skills and Experience
Essential
- Minimum 5 years' warehouse management experience.
- Experience managing warehouse teams.
- Experience implementing Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or ERP systems.
- Strong project management skills.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Good understanding of inventory management.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Experience managing KPIs and operational performance.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation.
Desirable
- Degree or professional qualification in Supply Chain, Logistics or Operations Management.
- Lean Six Sigma qualification.
- Project Management qualification (PRINCE2, PMP or equivalent).
- Experience of warehouse redesign projects.
- Experience using barcode systems and handheld scanning technology.
- Forklift certification (or experience managing FLT operations).

Pay: £45,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
