Clandeboye Estate Yoghurt is based on a 2,000-acre country estate in Bangor County Down and produces a wide range of premium, whole milk yoghurts. Founded in 2008 and employing 35 people, the company is recognised for its multi award-winning, authentically strained Greek Style Yoghurt. This thick & creamy yoghurt has received major accolades including a 3-star Great Taste Award, Gold Blas Award, Irish Quality Award, and UK Quality Award. Clandeboye Yoghurt supplies both retail and food service customers across the island of Ireland and GB.
The company are currently inviting applications for the role of Operations Manager.
The Operations Manager is responsible for the effective day‑to‑day running of all operational activities within a fast‑paced food manufacturing environment. The role ensures production efficiency, product quality, staff performance, and compliance with all food safety, HR, and operational standards. Working closely with all departments within the business the postholder will drive smooth operations across the site and support the site maintain BRCGS grade AA standard.
Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
· Oversee daily factory operations to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant production.
· Work closely with the Production Manager and Dispatch Manager to plan, coordinate, and optimise production schedules.
· Lead with confidence and ensure clear communication of business priorities and performance expectations within production and dispatch functions.
· Drive a continued commitment to product quality, order fulfilment and customer service across the Operation’s department.
HR & People Management
· Support HR‑related tasks including recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and absence management.
· Work with the Production Manager & Dispatch Manager to ensure staffing levels meet operational needs.
· Promote a positive, safe, and respectful working environment aligned with company values and legal requirements.
· Conduct return‑to‑work interviews, informal investigations, and support disciplinary processes where required.
Food Safety, Quality & Compliance
· Ensure all operations comply with food safety legislation, HACCP, CCP monitoring, and customer standards.
· Support internal and external audits, ensuring documentation and processes are always audit‑ready.
· Work with the Technical team to address non‑conformances, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence.
Health & Safety
· Ensure safe working practices across all operational areas.
· Support accident investigations, risk assessments, and staff training.
· Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with H&S legislation.
Experience
Essential
5+ years proven experience in an operations or production management role within food manufacturing.
Strong understanding of HACCP, food safety standards, and audit requirements.
Experience in production planning, workflow optimisation, and resource management.
Strong people management skills with experience handling HR‑related processes.
Excellent communication, organisation, and problem‑solving abilities.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and make sound decisions under pressure.
Desirable
Previous experience of working in an SME manufacturing environment with multi‑functional responsibilities.
Engineering knowledge (mechanical or electrical) to support problem‑solving, equipment reliability, and coordination with maintenance.
Knowledge of NI/EU food legislation and customer audit schemes.
Pay: £55,000.00 per year
