Sisma Care is looking for caring, reliable and motivated Bank Residential Support Workers to join the team at Magnolia House, our children’s residential home in Slough. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) in a safe, nurturing and supportive home environment.
As a Bank Residential Care Worker, you will help provide high-quality, child-centred care and support young people with their daily routines, education, emotional wellbeing, independence and personal development. You will also contribute to creating a positive and homely atmosphere where young people feel safe, respected and valued.
Duties will include:
- Supporting children and young people in daily care and routines
- Promoting safeguarding, welfare and wellbeing at all times
- Helping with domestic tasks, cooking, shopping and activities
- Supporting young people to attend education, appointments and family contact
- Building positive, professional relationships with young people
- Completing daily logs, reports and other documentation
- Working closely with colleagues and external professionals
- Using de-escalation and restorative approaches to manage behaviour positively
Requirements:
- Experience working with children and young people
- Understanding of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Good communication and report-writing skills
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Emotional resilience and a calm approach under pressure
- Good IT skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Flexibility to work shifts, including sleep-ins
- Willingness to complete the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare if not already held
Desirable:
- Experience in residential childcare
- Experience supporting young people with SEMH or behavioural difficulties
- Knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards
- Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Residential Childcare or similar
- Training in restorative practice or behaviour management
