The Role
As Technical Maintenance Controller, you will control maintenance costs across our fleet and keep our maintenance processes running efficiently. Your technical knowledge will be put to work every day, reviewing dealer estimates and invoices, challenging labour hours and parts that don't stack up, and making sure warranty and goodwill claims are recovered in full. You will work closely with our Customer Service, Fleet Engineering, and Finance teams, and deal directly with dealers, service providers, and customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Control: Review dealer estimates and invoices, questioning labour costs, parts, and the use of non-genuine parts, and negotiating adjustments where needed.
- Authorisation: Authorise repair work up to £1,000, obtain the appropriate authorisations above that, and make sure costs are allocated correctly between Hexagon and our customers.
- Warranty & Goodwill: Ensure 100% warranty recovery and maximise goodwill contributions from manufacturers and dealers.
- Maintanence Providers: Review open jobs and their status, chase progress with maintenance providers, track how long they take to provide estimates, and escalate non-performing dealers to the Technical Manager.
- Recharges: Identify re-chargeable work and work with key account managers to obtain Purchase Order numbers.
- Documentation: Keep accurate records of all maintenance activity, authorisations, and cost allocations.
We would love to hear from you if you have:
- An NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods Vehicle Repair and Maintenance or equivalent.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience within the commercial vehicle industry.
- Comprehensive knowledge of commercial vehicles - you know what jobs should cost and how long they should take.
- Confidence to challenge and negotiate with dealers, backed up by excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A collaborative approach and a willingness to adapt to new processes and technology.
This role is based at our Head Office in Alrewas, so you will need to live within a comfortable commute of Burton on Trent or the surrounding areas.
