Sir Christopher is an independent, family-run sightseeing company offering live-guided open-top bus tours of London. We're passionate about delivering a friendly, personal and memorable experience for every guest, and we're looking for enthusiastic people to help us grow.
This is far more than simply reading from a script. As one of our tour guides, you'll be the face of the business, welcoming visitors from around the world and bringing London's history and landmarks to life.
The Role
Working alongside one of our experienced drivers, you'll be responsible for delivering an outstanding customer experience from the moment our guests arrive until they leave the bus.
Your duties will include:
- Greeting and welcoming passengers.
- Assisting with boarding and ensuring passengers are seated safely.
- Providing a lively, informative and entertaining live commentary throughout the tour.
- Working closely with the driver to ensure tours operate safely and on time.
- Answering customer questions and providing excellent customer care at all times.
- Helping keep the bus clean, tidy and presentable before, during and after each tour.
- Carrying out basic checks to ensure the passenger areas remain safe and free from hazards.
- Assisting with ticket checks and boarding procedures where required.
- Promoting future tours and encouraging positive online reviews.
- Selling tickets from the pavement to passing visitors when required, earning additional commission on every sale.
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys meeting people and takes pride in providing excellent customer service.
You'll ideally have:
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
- A friendly, confident and outgoing personality.
- A passion for London and its history (full route training will be provided).
- A professional appearance and positive attitude.
- The ability to remain calm and organised in a busy tourist environment.
- Reliability, punctuality and flexibility.
- Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, theatre, presenting, teaching or tour guiding would be an advantage but is not essential.
Pay & Benefits
- £15–£17+ per hour, depending on experience.
- Additional commission for pavement ticket sales.
- Flexible part-time and ad-hoc shifts.
