Illuminate Independent and Skills Centre is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and values-driven Cook to join our growing education and Adult Day Care Services team.
This role is central to creating a warm, welcoming environment where nutritious, well-prepared meals support wellbeing, routine, and dignity. Food plays an important role in promoting independence, confidence, and positive daily experiences for the adults we support.
*****16 hours per week contract, term time only*****
Pay scale: £24,000 per annum pro rata

Illuminate Care is seeking a skilled and passionate Cook to provide nutritious, balanced, and appealing meals for:
- Learners at George Henderson Lodge (education provision)
- Adults attending our Day Opportunities / Day Services
This is a rewarding role for someone who understands the importance of food, routine, and dignity in care and learning environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook fresh, nutritious meals for children, young people, and adults
- Plan menus that meet:
- Dietary needs
- Cultural and religious requirements
- Allergies and medical needs
- Support healthy eating and food education
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene
- Comply with food safety, health & safety, and infection control procedures
- Work collaboratively with care, education, and support staff
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience as a cook in a care, education, or community setting (desirable)
- Holds (or is willing to obtain) a Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene Certificate
- Understands dietary needs including allergies, special diets, and texture-modified foods
- Is organised, reliable, and able to work independently
- Has a warm, respectful approach and understands person-centred value
