Job Title: Strategy and Delivery Adviser (Professionalism)
Salary: The starting salary is £48,995, which includes allowances totalling £3,009.
The salary is broken down as £45,986 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £ 54,863. Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Professionalism Directorate of the Metropolitan Police, working on a range of strategic, policy and delivery workstreams and projects that support the Met’s mission of more trust, less crime and high standards.
We are looking for a motivated, self-starter, with experience of working in a policy or strategic environment who will be comfortable working at pace in a large organisation. The role involves working across Professionalism, internal and external partners, and government to advise on internal and external policy, strategy and reform ambitions. You will be responsible for managing key projects from development to delivery, maintaining stakeholder relationships, and ensuring the delivery of timely, accurate advice and products for senior leads. It will require you to manage competing short-term deadlines at pace, while driving slow burn projects across the directorate and broader organisation.
This role will be based in the Met’s new Professionalism Strategy, Policy and Performance Unit, but will also work closely with other internal teams including the Met’s strategy team, external relations and other communications colleagues. The Met’s Professionalism Strategy, Policy and Performance Unit has been established to support the Professionalism Chief Officer Group deliver integrity, conduct and cultural reform and drive high professional standards across the organisation, ultimately answering to Assistant Commissioner Rachel Williams. The team are responsible for driving a range of strategic workstreams and projects that support the functioning of a large operational Business Group and contribute to Met’s mission of more trust, less crime and high standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead projects and programmes of work that deliver evidence‑based improvements across policy, performance, and professionalism.
Prepare high‑quality briefings, letters, and updates to support senior leaders at governance forums, strategic meetings, and high‑profile external engagements.
Interpret data and evidence to produce clear performance reports and insight that support effective decision‑making at strategic and tactical levels.
Act as the Professionalism lead for designated areas of policy or practice, ensuring alignment with statutory requirements and internal standards.
Represent the MPS in consultation with government and external oversight bodies, influencing regulatory and legislative development.
Build strong relationships with MPS Commands, staff associations, and external partners to promote consistent standards and embed a culture of integrity.
Identify and implement continuous improvements to systems, processes, and policies, enhancing operational effectiveness and organisational learning.
Champion ethical conduct, addressing misconduct or poor behaviour proactively and integrating lessons learned into practice.
Share insight and best practice with operational colleagues to improve frontline service delivery.
Contribute to directorate‑wide strategy and business planning.
Provide line management, coaching, and development to team members as required to ensure high‑quality outputs that maintain organisational integrity.
Desirable Experience:
Experience drafting policy and/or aligning policy with broader strategic objectives within legislation and regulatory frameworks.
Knowledge of Policing Professional Standards, referencing and vetting processes, and statutory inquiries.
Understanding of Police Regulations, the Code of Ethics, and relevant legislation.
Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills, enabling influence at senior levels and effective external representation.
Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to manage multiple complex workstreams and report progress effectively.
Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making capability.
Ability to drive work through from initiation to completion.
Analytical skills to interpret data, identify trends, and make evidence‑based recommendations.
Conflict resolution skills to manage sensitive issues constructively and uphold standards.
Competence with ICT tools including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Demonstrated integrity, sound judgement, discretion, and a commitment to professionalism and organisational development.
Ability to lead, motivate, and develop staff to achieve objectives.
