Job Description:
We are currently seeking a dedicated part time, self-employed Support Worker in Hitchin to support our client in Hitchin. The client is a male in his early 30’s who suffered a brain injury at birth. He requires support with prompting, managing activities of daily living such as shopping, laundry, and cooking, and improving his independence. His hobbies include gaming and going to the gym. This role requires 15 hours a week including weekdays and weekend.
Working hours:
All hours are subject to need, and the 15 hours can be flexible. Initially the arrangements will look like this:
· Mondays, Wednesdays, Friday: Daily welfare checks (one hour) between 5pm and 8pm
· Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday: Practical Support for 2 – 3 hours a day, flexible times.
Key Responsibilities:
· Supporting the client with activities to build his routine and confidence with preparing meals, shopping, laundry, household chores and managing bills.
· Promoting the client’s wellbeing and independence.
· Maintaining accurate and detailed daily reports and collaborate closely with a therapy team including Occupational Therapist, and Psychologist
· Attending team meetings to discuss client progress.
Job Requirements:
· Support work experience
· Brain injury experience
· Self-employed status.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with the client and team members.
· Ability to follow care/support plans, risk assessments and reports accurately.
· Well-presented, motivated, and enthusiastic individuals with a passion for supporting others.
· Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
· Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection
