Sailbrand Ltd – Huddersfield
Circa £14.00 per hour depending on experience
We are looking for a hardworking and reliable Fishmonger / Fish Filleter to join our busy production team at Sailbrand Ltd.
This is a hands-on role within a fast-paced fish processing environment, preparing high-quality products for wholesale and retail customers. We are looking for somebody with strong knife skills, a good work ethic, and the ability to work efficiently while maintaining high standards.
Previous fishmongering experience is preferred, however applicants from similar backgrounds such as butchery, chef work, kitchen preparation, or food production environments with knife experience will also be considered.
Full training will be provided for the right candidate.
Working Pattern
- 5 or 6 days per week available
- Any working pattern chosen must include Friday and Saturday
- Start times:
- Monday to Thursday – 4:00am
- Friday & Saturday – 3:00am
Due to the early starts and physical nature of the role, reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Filleting and preparing fish to company standards
- Portion cutting and product preparation
- Using knives and fish processing equipment safely
- Packing, labelling, and preparing customer orders
- Maintaining high standards of quality and presentation
- Following food hygiene and health & safety procedures
- Maintaining cleanliness and organisation within the production area
- Supporting stock rotation and helping minimise waste
- Supporting the wider production team where required
What We’re Looking ForEssential
- Previous experience using knives in a professional environment
- Good attention to detail and quality
- Able to work in a cold and fast-paced environment
- Physically fit and capable of manual handling
- Reliable with good attendance and timekeeping
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable
- Fishmongering or fish filleting experience
- Butchery, chef, or kitchen preparation background
- Experience within food production or food manufacturing
- Knowledge of food hygiene and food safety procedures
Training & Development
Full training will be provided, including:
- Food hygiene and food safety
- Knife skills and safe working procedures
- Product preparation standards
- Use of specialist production equipment
- Quality and stock handling procedures
