Job Summary
We are a dynamic rural enterprise in the upper Tweed Valley, managing a diversified farming and leisure business across five operating divisions — including organic sheep and cattle, holiday lets, rural tourism and events. Day-to-day bookkeeping is managed at farm level, with accounts preparation and payroll handled centrally.
The Role
A straightforward but important role: keeping our books clean, current, and well-coded so that our central finance team can do their job efficiently. You will work primarily at the farm office, with a degree of flexibility to work from home at times to be agreed.
Responsibilities
Day to day you will be handling:
-Posting and coding purchase invoices across five divisions
-Raising sales invoices for holiday lets, tourism, wedding, and farm income
-Paying bills efficiently
-General ledger maintenance and journal entries on Sage Intacct
-Ensuring VAT is correctly coded across all transactions
-Document management — keeping supplier invoices, receipts, and records well-organised
-Occasional liaison with our central accounts team
-Analysing expenditure against budgets, reconciling bank statements through Intacct
Requirements
- Looking for genuinely flexible, family-friendly hours that fit around other commitments
- Solid bookkeeping experience — purchase ledger, sales ledger, general ledger
- Proven Sage Intacct (or Sage 50) expertise required — certification strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with farming, rural estates, or seasonal and tourism businesses a distinct advantage. If you know the difference between a wedder, a gimmer and a hogg or an R1 and R2, and how to account for them, you’re at the top of the list!
- Self-sufficient and reliable with a strong eye for detail — this role suits someone who can work quietly and accurately without close supervision
What We Offer
Flexible working — can be partially home-based but we are keen on the team work and it's important to be in the office to see others regularly.
