Job Summary
Working Monday to Friday day shifts - includes early mornings but no weekends or evenings.
We are seeking a motivated and experienced HGV Class 1 Driver to join our team. As a key player in our transportation operations, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently delivering goods across various locations.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely operate Company vehicles, including HGV Class 1 (C+E), vans and passenger vehicles as authorised.
- Complete comprehensive daily vehicle safety inspections before and after each journey, reporting any defects promptly in accordance with Company procedures.
- Load and unload vehicles safely using appropriate manual handling techniques and authorised mechanical handling equipment.
- Ensure all loads are correctly secured and distributed in accordance with current load restraint regulations and safe loading practices.
- Plan routes effectively to achieve timely deliveries while complying with speed limits, traffic regulations and customer / supplier requirements.
- Comply with all Road Traffic legislation, Driver CPC requirements, Drivers' Hours Regulations, Working Time Directive and Digital Tachograph legislation.
- Operate at all times in accordance with the Company's Operator's License obligations and transport procedures.
- Operate forklift trucks (where authorised and trained) in accordance with RTITB standards and Company safe systems of work.
- The packing and issue of materials and equipment to external sources as detailed on the relevant picking tickets and the recording of weights / dimensions as required.
- Maintain a professional appearance and uphold the company’s reputation through courteous interactions with clients and customers.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping throughout warehouse, yard areas and all vehicles. and work in accordance with all Company Health & Safety policies, risk assessments and safe working procedures.
- Report accidents, incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions immediately.
Secondary Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with goods receiving, stock checking and stock movements, ensuring accurate inventory records are maintained.
- The correct receipt of equipment from external sources and the recording of details in the Goods Inward Book (GIB).
- Undertaking administration duties as required.
- Ensure stock availability supports production schedules and customer delivery requirements.
- Ensuring the correct flow of any paperwork required for the correct functioning of the MRP system.
- Carrying out any other duties as instructed by the Operations Manager or any other member of the Company’s management staff.
Experience
- Full UK driving licence
- Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence with a clean driving record
- RTITB qualified forklift truck driver (reach & counterbalanced)
Experience & Personal Attributes
- At least 3 years’ practical HGV driving experience
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and transportation laws
- Excellent navigation skills and familiarity with route planning tools
- Good communication skills and a customer-focused attitude
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including early mornings

Pay: £36,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
