About the Role
Abbey Logistics Group is offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our experienced team as a Heavy Vehicle Service & Maintenance Technician Apprentice.
Working alongside highly skilled HGV technicians in our modern in-house workshop, you'll gain valuable hands-on experience maintaining and repairing our fleet of road tankers and trailers while studying towards a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification.
This apprenticeship is ideal for someone with a genuine interest in heavy vehicles, engineering, and mechanical maintenance who is looking to build a long-term career within the transport and logistics industry.
What You'll Be Doing
As part of your apprenticeship, you will learn to:
- Carry out inspections, servicing, diagnostics, maintenance and repairs on Abbey Logistics Group's tanker and trailer fleet.
- Assist with chassis repairs and general accident damage repairs.
- Carry out aluminium and stainless steel fabrication work.
- Use workshop tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Follow all health & safety procedures and company policies.
- Work as part of a professional team to maintain high workshop standards.
Apprenticeship Training
You will complete the Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Service & Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship delivered by St Helens College.
Training includes:
- One day per week at college during term time.
- Workplace learning and supported training throughout the remainder of the programme.
- Continuous mentoring from experienced HGV technicians.
What We're Looking ForEssential
- GCSE Grade 4/C (or equivalent) in English.
- GCSE Grade 4/C (or equivalent) in Maths.
- A genuine interest in vehicle maintenance, engineering or mechanics.
- Commitment to learning and developing new skills.
