About AMN
Africa Mobile Networks (AMN) builds, owns, operates and maintains mobile network infrastructure, delivering services for the biggest Mobile Network Operators in Africa. AMN uses highly advanced technology to enable services to be delivered economically and sustainably to smaller communities than has ever been possible before. AMN is bringing 2G, 3G and 4G voice and data connectivity to towns and villages which have previously been unconnected.
AMN currently owns and operates more than 5,000 base stations in 12 countries. The AMN vision is simple – a fully connected Africa, with no community of any significant size being without basic telecommunications services to deliver social, economic and educational benefits to the population.
The Role
AMN has developed its own in-house radio node (ARN), and we manufacture each unit in Milton Keynes. We have recently implemented an RMA programme, allowing our teams in Africa to send us ARN for repair in the UK. We are looking to grow our team to include a team member dedicated to processing and repairing ARN.
During a typical return, you would arrange a shipment of ARN from one of our networks in Africa back to the UK. You would then use our in-house tools to diagnose the fault within the ARN before repairing it and sending it back to be deployed in one of our networks. You would work alongside our manufacturing team, though there isn't significant crossover between the ARN returned from the field and the newly manufactured ARN. Due to the independent nature of the role, it is important that you are happy working individually whilst maintaining strict adherence to repair processes.
We are looking for team members who are dedicated and hardworking to join our growing and dynamic team. You do not need to have any prior experience in telecommunications or electronics testing, we will provide full hands-on training and ongoing support. This role would suit a school leaver or someone rejoining the workforce.
By the end of your training period you will have developed the knowledge and skills to:
- Execute assembly processes and procedures whilst complying with health and safety standards
- Operate the relevant inspection/testing equipment to identify the source of the fault
- Repair the ARN in line with our manufacturing standards
- Document the return and the fault to ensure it complies with all RMA guidelines
- Assist ARN manufacture as required
Therefore, we need you to:
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and interest in the manufacturing environment
- Demonstrate accountability and take pride in the quality of work you produce
- Demonstrate good organisational skills, managing repair priorities and shipping processes
- Be reliable, professional and punctual
- Be able to work well both individually and within a team
- Have good computer skills to include the use of Word/Excel/Outlook/Google Drive
- Be a good communicator at all levels within the business
