We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded professional to join our Clinical Negligence Support Team as a New Claim Enquiry Vetting / Decision Maker.
This is a key role within the client intake process, responsible for assessing the merits of new clinical negligence enquiries and making informed acceptance decisions in accordance with the firm's Acceptance Framework. Your ability to make timely, well-reasoned decisions will directly contribute to delivering exceptional client service and ensuring opportunities are progressed quickly and effectively.
The role would suit an experienced legal professional working within clinical negligence, or a senior healthcare professional such as an Adult General Nurse or Doctor with a strong understanding of clinical negligence matters.
There is also genuine opportunity for career development, including progression into the supervision and management of the team's Paralegals and Legal Assistants.
Key Responsibilities
New Enquiry Assessment & Decision Making

Review and assess new clinical negligence enquiries.

Analyse New Client Questionnaires and supporting information.

Evaluate allegations and determine whether enquiries meet the firm's Acceptance Framework.

Make recommendations and acceptance/rejection decisions with confidence and sound judgement.

Liaise directly with prospective clients to obtain additional information and discuss their potential claims.

Identify matters requiring further investigation and escalate appropriately where necessary.
Client Care & Onboarding
-
Deliver outstanding levels of client care throughout the enquiry process.

Support the onboarding team to ensure a smooth and efficient client intake experience.

Build confidence and trust with prospective clients through clear and empathetic communication.

Ensure compliance with National Practice Standards and internal procedures.
Team Support & Leadership

Assist with the supervision and development of Paralegals and Legal Assistants within the Clinical Support Team.

Provide guidance and support on enquiry assessment and case screening matters.

Support the Clinical Support Team Manager with operational and team objectives.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and service delivery.
General Duties

Provide support to the wider Clinical Negligence team as required.

Maintain accurate records and case management information.

Meet or exceed all relevant KPIs, including time recording requirements.

Work collaboratively with fee earners, support teams and shared services to ensure the effective progression of matters.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Essential

A minimum of 5 years' experience within a relevant legal or clinical field.

Experience assessing the merits of clinical negligence claims or reviewing complex clinical information.

Strong understanding of clinical negligence law and practice.

Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Proven ability to build rapport with clients and stakeholders.

Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.

Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to problem solving.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant business systems.

Previous experience within a Clinical Negligence team.

Experience supervising, mentoring or developing junior colleagues.

Familiarity with Partner or similar case management systems.
